China's Huawei to launch first smartphone

Huawei, China's telecoms giant, has launched its first smartphone today.

The Ascend P6 is expected to be unveiled this afternoon and will make its debut in London. However, a leak has meant that a few details are already known.

ICTech has published a handful of photographs showing an ultra-slim handset and a layout that is undeniably similar to that of Apple's iPhone.

The handset will run on an Android operating system and will be available in both black and white. It boasts a 4.7 inch display with a 720p HD resolution. It runs on a 1.5GHz quadcore K3V2+ processor and has around 2GB of memory and 8GB of internal storage as well as both a rear and front-facing camera.

So far so good, but there's nothing particularly ground-breaking about the handset that we know of just yet other than the fact that it is being billed as "the world's thinnest phone". More information is expected to be available online following the official launch later today.
