Nokia software update launched
A software update for Nokia phones has been launched by the Finnish mobile phone company.
The Symbian Anna is the latest update for the Nokia N8, C7, C6-01 and E7 devices. Users can download the software to the handsets in order to improve operations on their smartphones.
A new user interface is one of the key changes in the update, along with a virtual QWERTY keypad in portrait mode, split-screen messaging, enhanced Nokia maps, stronger security and better web browsing.
The user face changes will deliver a split-screen in a number of applications, allowing the phone's owner to view webpages, message threads, contacts or email while typing. Meanwhile, the browser will deliver quicker page loads and improved device navigation.
Ilari Nurmi, vice-president at Nokia, commented: “Nokia's Symbian smartphones are used by millions of people around the world every day, addressing specific consumer needs and providing choices at many price points.”
He added: “Symbian Anna represents a significant update to the experience those users have and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to Symbian, which will see up to ten more phones introduced over the next 12 months, further updates to the user experience and support for the software until at least 2016.”
Nokia's recent decision to team up with Microsoft had resulted in a number of doubts about the future of its own software.
