Nokia C6-01 'most advanced' budget phone
Nokia has launched what mobile phone experts are calling the most advanced budget phone ever, with its new C6-01 model.
The handset – a stripped-down version of the successful C6 model –comes with a touch-sensitive AMOLED screen and runs on the Finnish company's successful Symbian 3 operating system.
The features are more commonly at home on high-end models, but Nokia hopes the phone will cater to the people who want smartphone features but without the bills.
The handset offers an exemplary 8 megapixel camera, with dual LED flash and 720p HD video capture. It also supports a wide variety of media formats and an FM radio.
The operating system offers GPS capabilities, supporting the Ovi Maps Navigation programme, and is optimised for social networking and webmail support.
The model dispenses with the slide-out QWERTY keyboard of the C6, using the tablet-style touch-screen for all its functions. The C6-01 has a microSD slot with a 2GB card included in the standard sales package and it also supports Bluetooth 3.0 and USB 2.0 connectivity.
The model is expected to be in stores before the end of the year.
