Faster smartphone surfing with Opera Mobile 10 beta

In the same month Opera Software unveiled its beta version of Opera Mobile 10 for Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung smartphones running Symbian/S60, the mobile browser has been opened up to handsets running Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system.

Users of Windows Mobile have been told by Opera that the development will let them experience desktop-like browsing on their handsets. Faster browsing should also be expected, thanks to compression technology Opera Turbo, speed dial, a password manager and tabs.

Opera Software chief Jon von Tetzchner commented that the Norwegian mobile internet technology company is "unifying" its products so users enjoy the same experience "no matter the device or which particular Opera browser they are using".

"With Opera Mobile 10, we are raising the expectations of how a mobile browser should perform," he added. "Today, users require a browser as powerful as the web, one that can handle their daily tasks as well as their computers. That's Opera."

With a user interface similar to the recently introduced Opera Mini 5 and desktop browser Opera 10, Opera Mobile 10 beta is optimised for touchscreen navigation. Customers can download the browser for free from Opera's dedicated webpage.
