UK to welcome HTC HD2 smartphone next week
In the same week Microsoft unveiled its Windows Mobile 6.5 interface, HTC has confirmed the HD2 smartphone will hit the UK in the coming days.
Available through T-Mobile from next Monday (9th November), Microsoft says the HD2 has "a beautiful multi-touch screen that people will love".
Peter Chou, HTC's chief executive officer, adds: "The HD2 is the first Windows phone with HTC Sense, an HTC user experience focused on making the phone more simple and natural to use by enabling people to personalise their mobile experience in their own unique way." He claims the smartphone's 4.3-inch, high-resolution screen delivers "more visible content in a sharper, brighter and richer way".
Using the first capacitive touch display on a Windows phone, the HD2 is intended – like the Apple iPhone 3GS – to make it easier to view, zoom and resize websites, pictures, Microsoft Office files and PDF documents. Its large display is aimed at facilitating faster, more efficient and accurate typing using the onscreen keyboard.
Furthermore, its use of the new 1Ghz Snapdragon mobile processor improves the speed of applications, videos and games, while the iPhone competitor's battery life is said to offer an average use of one full day.
