Nokia Booklet 3G set for US launch

Nokia has unveiled details of its new netbook, which is set to hit the US market at a price of $299 for customers who take out a two-year wireless broadband contract with AT&T.

The Booklet 3G will run on Microsoft Windows 7, hitting Best Buy stores when the software launches on 22nd October.

According to the manufacturer, the super-slim netbook is just over two centimetres in width and will deliver up to 12 hours of battery life.

"Nokia understands mobility like no other company and recognises that the most 'powerful' device is the one that doesn't have you running for the power plug or network point," said company president Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo.

With embedded 3G and high-speed connectivity to the internet, the Booklet 3G also features Nokia's broad suite of Ovi services, integrated Bluetooth, a front-facing camera for video calling and an HDMI port for HD video out.

"Our customers are looking for ways to stay connected no matter where they are and we're finding that netbooks and laptops are important companion devices next to the smartphone," commented a spokesperson for Best Buy.

Anyone without an AT&T contract can get their hands on the mini laptop for $599.
