Motorola Dext hits flagship Orange Multimedia Store

Motorola's first Android-powered smartphone, the Dext, has gone on sale exclusively through Orange.

The touchscreen device features MOTOBLUR technology, software that automatically delivers and organises contacts from multiple places onto the phone's home screen, enabling users to combine email and address book information with that from social networks on an easily manageable list.

Available free on contract from Orange, it also has a 3.1-inch screen, a QWERTY keyboard, a 5-megapixel camera and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

According to Orange, the Dext will initially be available in its flagship Multimedia Store in Milton Keynes, before being rolled out to Phones4U branches around the country.

Described as a "digital playground", the store features demonstrations of new products, basic education workshops and film previews, as well as live handsets for customers to engage with all of Orange's services.

Store manager Cherry Peters said the "fun and entertaining" outlet is aimed at everyone from tech-savvy teenagers to anyone less aware of how their digital devices can make their life easier.

“Advances in digital media are staggering and increasingly becoming an essential part of our everyday life. Therefore, the need to keep up has never been greater," she added.
