Preorder HTC Tattoo on Vodafone website now

Vodafone has unveiled details on pricing and the specific availability of the HTC Tattoo smartphone.

The carrier, which is the first in the UK to offer the device, says the Android smartphone is available for preorder now and will begin shipping next Thursday (8th October).

With a 3.2-inch resistive touchscreen and a 3.2-megapixel fixed-focus camera, the Tattoo is free to customers on 24-month contracts of £25 or more – including unlimited internet access.

Individuals on 18-month contracts will need to pay £35 per month to get the smartphone for free.

On its website, Vodafone emphasises that users can avail of HTC's Sense technology to shape their own "distinct mobile experience".

It goes on to detail the benefits of the "cutting edge" Android operating system: "Web essentials like Google Maps and Google Mail work brilliantly. You can create shortcuts to your favourite sites and download fun games, news feeds and widgets."

HTC has previously underlined the Tattoo's distinct design and "ability to personalise all aspects of the phone", from its hardware to its applications and content.

Details of its pricing and availability come in the same week Vodafone revealed it will be stocking the Apple iPhone in the UK from early 2010.
